Learning a foreign language is not just constantly studying books, it also should be fun. To learn Spanish more easily, we've compiled some tips and tricks for you.
Little tricks – big effect
Our brain can handle small and regular bits of information better than loads all at once. Try to create small clusters of 5-7 words and learn them a few times. Take your time: about 45-60 seconds per word. After a short break create the next cluster. You shouldn’t learn more than 30-35 new words per day.
Before going to sleep, you should repeat new material again for 10-15 minutes, this will consolidate new information whilst asleep. At night your subconsciousness especially deals with the final experience of the day. Thus, new knowledge will be strengthened without your influence.
Even Spanish TV or radio is helpful, regardless of how much you understand, because it promotes your feeling for the language. Reading is also important. Read original Spanish texts slowly and carefully. You don´t need to understand everything, because it promotes your feeling for the language as well.
As an incentive you should set yourself learning targets. These can be quite ambitious but they should also be realistic and achievable. Establish targets, because every small success boosts your motivation. It is especially helpful to combine learning with positive and personal thoughts. Why am I learning? What do I want to achieve? Who will be impressed by this? What opportunities will it open up to me? This will make the learning process more enjoyable whilst improving your memory performance because our brains favour postive memories and cognitions.
Don´t be afraid to speak, just because you are still uncertain. No one is angry with you, quite the opposite. The important thing is to say anything. Just stick at it and learn from your mistakes!
Music can also be very helpful. Search for the Spanish music you like to listen to, google the lyrics and read them while listening to the songs. It's fun and will boost your sense of sentence structure and grammar. Also, your listening comprehension will improve and by memorizing the lyrics it also promotes your memory.
Often it´s easier to learn together and you have more fun. Look for a learning group in which you can help each other. Common practice or queries encourages each individual and brings better results.

Asking key questions can be a good indicator of what you can understand in a given text. What key information can you ascertain? A person, a date, a place, an action or a situation, perhaps? Read the text several times. With the first reading, underline just the answers to the question: "Who?" With the second, concentrate on the question: "Where?" and with the third, on the questions: "When?" and "What?"
