This course can be combined freely with the intensive course. In this course, students will study the most prominent dates and eras of contemporary Spanish history, including the 2nd Republic, the end of Franco's Dictatorship, the Transition to Democracy, the Movida (1980s), the various democratic governments (UCD, PSOE, PP etc.) until the present day. We will use original documents and radio recordings for this course. In the Advance level, ancient Spanish history will be studied: from its origins until the first half of XIX century.
The Modern Spanish History Course consists of 10 weekly classes (45 minutes each) from Monday to Friday.
The schedule is usually between 13.45 and 16.00. However, this schedule may suffer slight modifications, depending on the season and the quantity of students at the school at the moment.
Modern Spanish History Courses begin every Monday (unless it is a public holiday).
On public holidays classes will not be held, however they will be made up throughout the week. If there happens to be two public holidays in one week, only one day will be made up for.
Before starting the Spanish course, students must take a level test, both written (multiple choice questions plus a little composition) and spoken, in order to assess their level and place them in the correct group.
This test has no cost and it always takes place outside the course schedules. If the student is already in Valencia, it may be taken on the previous week; if not, the test will take place the same day of the beginning of the course (usually at 9.00)
The Spanish History Course's teaching materials (dossiers and complementary activity cards) are carefully prepared, updated and improved by our teaching staff.
All learning resources are included in the price of the course.
At the end of the course, the students receive a certificate of participation stating the hours taken as well as the kind of course taken and the level reached.
With the aim of guaranteeing that each and every student is in the appropriate level and to avoid groups of students with differing levels of knowledge, the school reserves the right to implement the following changes to lesson times: in case that there is only one student, the daily class will be reduced to one lesson of 60 minutes. The original price will be unaffected.
