The Natural Park of La Albufera in Valencia is one of the biggest lakes in Spain and it is considered one of the most important humid zones of the Iberian Peninsula. Unique species of water birds hibernate in this area, making it a place of great ecological interest. Because of its rich waters, fishermen and rice growers earned their living here generation over generation, and influencing the local cuisine – the Valencian paella.
