However intermediate levels exist to ensure small, homogenous groups. Every week start new courses of each level listed above. Therefore Spanish language students can join in a course that exactly matches to their level.
Aimed at beginners. The basics of the language are taught with a practical orientation. Basic grammar is dealt with, as is the necessary vocabulary for day to day life, such as ordering a café, asking for directions, giving personal information etc.
This level is for those who already possess certain knowledge of the Spanish language but who need to improve their lexicon and learn about grammatical rules to be able to conduct a conversation, to issue an invitation or to refuse it, to pose questions and to answer them, and to give information about the past, etc.
In this level participants improve their oral and written expression to be up to conduct a conversation without difficulties. Grammatical rules and lexicon are learned in this level will allow students to participate in a confident way in all-day situations, to express emotions and feelings, to compare, to tell stories in the past as well to describe a liking or a discontent, etc.
This level is designed to recess the indicative mode, to enrich the vocabulary and to receive knowledge about socio-cultural aspects about Spain and Latin America which are taught by using different texts, discussions and while exchanging information between teacher and student. After absolving this level participants are able to, for example, conduct a conversation about an unknown topic, to file a complaint, to talk spontaneously in an all-day situation and to be up to ask for some explanation in case of disaccord.
The students who want to improve their oral and written expression should join this level. This includes analysis of texts, different exercises, various activities intended to review and revise the student, for example, the most difficult tenses, which are aimed at the more difficult conjugations, especially the use of the subjunctive. Besides common mistakes will be correct and ability will be acquired to talk fluently about known (or unknown) topics in special fields and the student’s field of interest.
It is aimed to students who manage the Spanish language but who need a deeper knowledge of idiomatic expressions and also the acquisition of different nuances and finer points of language. Subordinated structures and mode selection will be treated by means of texts slightly adapted. In this level, the development of oral and writing skills is highly stressed, so the students improve their fluency and self-confidence during their interventions.
This level is thought for those students who are already able of interacting in most of the real situations they are immersed into. Discussions about current affairs taken from national press and reading of literary works benefit the discovery of culture. Topics such as politics, society or the environment, which may result of more difficulty for the students, begin to be dealt with.
This level is designed to consolidate grammatical structures already studied, so that through study, comprehension and recognition of those structures that, due to their frequent use, become necessary for any student studying our language are mastered. The texts typologies used cover all the modes and levels of language and the oral practice centres on a variety of themes, different speakers and contexts.
This level is designed to strengthen, deepen and set fixed all structures, as much spoken as written that the student has accumulated during their study of the Spanish language. This level is also designed to ensure correct use of expressions, varieties of language and specific vocabulary that the student may need. The learning of vocabulary is achieved quickly and steadily through all types of text and activities which put the lexical knowledge and ability of the student to the test.
This is the highest level of the Intensive Courses. It demands a lot of effort and application on the part of the student. It deals with difficult aspects of Spanish even for Spanish speakers, for example the position of adjectives in prepositions, difficult cases of the subjunctive, acronyms and homonyms, rules of prepositions etc. Unaltered texts are employed to ensure the acquisition of new vocabulary and the understanding of genuine reading matter.
