The Intensive Course, as well as the Kids Courses and the Teen Course consist of 20 classes a week (50 minutes each), from Monday to Friday, plus sociocultural modules of 5 hours being carried out during the week.
In general, these courses take place in the morning (from 10 am to 1.30 pm) or in the afternoon (from 4 pm to 7.30 pm). However, this schedule may suffer slight modifications depending on the season and the quantity of students.
We intend to give the Spanish lessons for families in the morning, especially if very young participants are involved. In any case, we guarantee that the courses for different members of the families are always held in the same time slot.
Classes for the Intensive Course, the Kids Courses and the Teen Course begin every Monday all year (unless it is a public holiday), regardless of the language level.
Normally there are no classes on holidays, but they will be made up during the same week. Here you will find a summary of holidays and how they affect our classes.

Before starting the Spanish course, students are required to take an online placement test consisting of a multiple choice test and a short essay. If necessary, an oral test will also be requested.
This test is free of charge and will take place two weeks before the start of the course. The results of the test, together with the information provided in the Student Record (personal data, language experience and learning preferences), will be used to assign the student to a course at an appropriate level for him/her.
The Intensive Courses’ teaching materials (textbooks and supplementary worksheets)are carefully worked out, updated and continuously improved by our teaching staff.
In the Teen Course the textbooks of Compañeros, SGEL will be used as well as complementary material carefully worked out, designed and chosen by our teachers to meet the needs of every single student.
In the Kids Courses the teachers utilise worksheets, handicrafts and activities with the computer individually prepared to meet the needs and the particular features of every group of children. All this material is also carefully worked out, designed and chosen by our teachers.
All teaching materials are included in the price of the course.
The school provides a tutor for you to discuss any questions that you may have without charging any extra cost. In general, these tutorials take place from Tuesday to Friday, from 1.30 pm to 2 pm or from 3.30 pm to 4 pm. You can ask your teacher of the Intensive Course to make use of this service.
At the end of the language stay, students will receive a certificate of attendance stating the level and type of course completed, the total hours spent during the stay (divided into teaching hours, hours of autonomous work and participation in socio-cultural activities) and the contents studied during the course.
If you require an official certificate accrediting your Spanish knowledge, we recommend taking the DELE exam (Diploma of Spanish as a Foreign Language). These are official qualifications, which accredit levels of competence and mastery of the Spanish language, granted by the ‘Instituto Cervantes’ on behalf of Spain’s Ministry of Education.
With the aim of guaranteeing that each and every student is in the appropriate level and to avoid groups of students with differing levels of knowledge, the school reserves the right to implement the following changes to lesson times for the Intensive/Kids and Teens Courses:
- In case of having only 3 students in the group, the daily class will be reduced to three sessions of 50 minutes each.
- In case of having only 1-2 student in the group, the daily class will be reduced to two private sessions of 50 minutes each. The original price will be unaffected in both instances.
In case that the participants of the Kids Courses and the Teen Course have similar level and age (e.g. 10, 11 and 12 years) mixed groups could be formed, always under the condition that the knowledge of the language and capability of learning are comparable.
IMPORTANT: In the case that the parents had more lessons than their children, the school does not hold responsible for under age students outside the teaching lessons.
Those over 10 years old can stay in the rest room of computers under the responsibility of the parents.
For children under 10 years old, the school can offer an extension of the teaching lessons or a service of "nursery". You can check the conditions and the extra cost of these servicies via e-mail at info@costadevalencia.com
Apart from our Spanish language courses, we also offer up to four extra-curricular activities per day. Participating in these activities allows for students to put into practice the skills they have learnt in the classroom in an effortless and fun way. On the other hand, it is also a unique opportunity to get to know Valencia’s culture and people first-hand.
We refer you to our updated program of free-time activities.
Sociocultural modules last approximately 5 hours a week and consist of presentations, debates, talks etc. and usually include visits to points of interests in the city e.g. museums or monuments. The topics addressed (festivals, Spanish politics, bull fighting, flamenco, gastronomy) put students in contact with a rich variety of aspects of Spanish and Valencian life.
