Preparation for the SIELE exam

ACADEMIC LOAD AND SCHEDULE OF THE COURSES

The Preparation SIELE Program consists of an Intensive Spanish Course 20 and 10 hours of Private Lessons per week.

The Intensive Course 20 consists of 20 lessons of 50 minutes per week, from Monday to Friday. In addition to these lessons there are 5 hours of socio-cultural modules to be taken during the week. These courses generally take place in the morning (from 10.00 a.m. to 1.30 p.m.) or in the afternoon (from 4.00 p.m. to 7.30 p.m.), although this timetable may be slightly modified depending on the time of year and the amount of students.

The 10 hours of Private Lessons per week, 60 minute-long each, usually take place between 1.45p.m. and 3.45 p.m., although this timetable may be slightly modified depending on the time of year and the amount of students.

NUMBER OF STUDENTS PER CLASS

STARTING DATES

It is possible to begin the intensive SIELE preparation program on any Monday of the year (unless it is a public holiday) regardless of the student's level of knowledge. Lessons won't be held on public holidays. However, they will be made up during the week. If two public holidays coincide in a week, only one of them will be made up.

LENGTH

EXAMS OF CERTIFICATES AND DIPLOMAS

LEVEL TEST

Before enrolling at a particular level, it is recommended that students who are in Valencia take a placement test at our school, consisting of a written part (test with multiple choice questions and a short essay) and an oral test. After correcting it and chatting with one of our teachers, the student will be able to find out about the real possibilities of passing th tests.

This test is free of charge and always takes place outside the course timetable.

TEACHING MATERIALS

Didactic materials of the Preparation Courses for the SIELE are composed by exam papers along with complementary material developed by Costa de Valencia, escuela de español. This didactic material is carefully elaborated, selected and updated by our teachers. It is included on the price of the course.

TUTORING SERVICE

If you encounter any difficulties during the course, the school has a teacher-tutor at your disposal to guide you and help you solve any doubts. This service is free of charge.

In general, these tutorials take place from Tuesday to Friday, from 1.30 pm to 2 pm or from 3.30 pm to 4 pm. You can ask your teacher of the Preparation Courses for the DELE Exam to apply for this service.

CERTIFICATE

At the end of the language stay, students will receive a certificate of attendance stating the level and type of course completed, the total hours spent during the stay (divided into teaching hours, hours of autonomous work and participation in socio-cultural activities) and the contents studied during the course.

TIMING REDUCTIONS

In order to guarantee that each student is at the level that corresponds to hi/her and to avoid forming groups of students with different knowledge of Spanish, the following time reduction will be applied to the Intensive Course 20 if the minimum number of four students per group is not reached, maintaining the original price:

- In the case that the course is made up of only 3 students, the teaching load will be reduced to 3 daily sessions of 50 minutes.

- If only 1-2 student participates in the course, the teaching load will be reduced to 2 sessions of 50 minutes per day.

FREE-TIME ACTIVITIES

Apart from our Spanish language courses, we also offer up to four extra-curricular activities per week. Participating in these activities allows students to put into practice the skills they have learnt in the classroom in an effortless and fun way. On the other hand, it is also a unique opportunity to get to know Valencia’s culture and people first-hand. We refer you to our updated program of free-time activities.

SOCIOCULTURALS MODULES

The sociocultural modules consist of conferences, debates, talks and usually include a visit to some touristic sites, such as museums or monuments. They last approximately 5 hours a week. The topics addressed (festivals, Spanish politics, gastronomy) put students in contact with a rich variety of aspects of Spanish and Valencian life.
