Full program for the winners of the Language Olympics Malmö/Sweden
The winners of the Language Olympics Malmö/Sweden enjoyed their stay at Costa de Valencia to the fullest.
On 29th of March the Language Olympics Malmö/Sweden took place again. As every year, the highest award in category Spanish was a stay in Spain. This included an intense language course at a school of their preference, as well as accommodation in a Spanish host family for two students and a teacher.
Costa de Valencia, escuela de español supports FEDELE, a Spanish federation of Spanish language schools, and offered a price in the category Spanish. After being chosen by the winners in 2014 and 2017, this year’s winners also decided to visit Costa de Valencia.
Besides the beautiful city of Valencia and an intense language course, which consisted of 20 hours of Spanish classes and socio-cultural modules, a multifaceted program awaited the Language Olympics’ winners.
There were daily free time activities in the morning as well as in the afternoon, so that every student, no matter their class timetable, can attend the program.
On the first day of language school, a traditional tour through Valencia’s historic city center was arranged. During the tour, important cultural and historical monuments were discovered: Lonja de la Seda, Plaza de la Reina, Mercado Central, Cathedral, Plaza de Toros and many others.
Other tours to Valencia’s beach are at hand, stopping at the swimming pool in the harbor basin and at the beach Playa El Saler. The students were sure to take advantage of the good weather and relax in the sun and swim in the sea.
There were also opportunities to dive into Valencia’s past with a visit to the Museum of City History. Valencia is much more than sun, sand and sea! Already in the past, the city played an important role in the country’s history, so Valencia was the capital of Spain’s second republic.
A trip to Monasterio San Miguel de los Reyes highlighted the cultural importance of Valencia. The monastery was found by Duke of Calabria in the 16th century and represents Valencian Renaissance.
The world wide known Flamenco dance is deeply rooted in Spanish culture and is even more enjoyable with some delicious Tapas. The students were offered a Flamenco-Night to experience and enjoy this tradition.
A special free time activity awaited the students on Saturday. The league begun with Valencia C.F vs Real Sociedad, and the language school’s football fans were sure to be watching the match!
As well as the above trips, there are regular evening activities like Tapa-Nights and Paella-Parties. These evenings are the perfect opportunity to get to know other international students, have fun together and enjoy Spanish culinary culture.
