Oktoberfest
Oktoberfest is the most popular festival in Germany and one of the biggest in the world, emulated in destinations as diverse as Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Venezuela. The festival has been held in Munich since 1810.
The festival began with the marriage of Prince Ludwig I of Bavaria to Therese of Saxony and Hildburghausen in 1810. It was so successful that it has since grown into an important multinational celebration.
