Drawing grammar

We live in a society full of images that communicate different messages, so why not use them in language teaching and learning?

On many occasions you have encountered situations in which your students do not understand grammar explanations, nor are they able to understand the manuals or materials in the classroom. Today we are going to talk about a technique that every day is more and more present in all classrooms and that helps to eliminate or at least make these situations less common.

How good are you at drawing? Surely many of you will answer that bad, but what you do not know is that everyone (yes, you read that right) can draw, another thing is that they understand our creativity, the mind must be very open. With this we want to tell you not to discard this resource, even if it is not your best skill. Often a picture is much more valuable than a paragraph full of words, especially at lower levels.

When we explain complex concepts and the students remain thoughtful or continue to make mistakes despite having explained them over and over again, we must look for another type of method to try to resolve this situation. Some teachers feel frustrated when explaining the difference between IR/LLEVAR - VENIR/LLEVAR, between POR and PARA, between IMPERFECTO and INDEFINIDO,... because no matter how many explanations they do, students keep making mistakes even at more advanced levels.

Drawing can be the solution. Let your imagination take over and offer your students another way of seeing and understanding grammar. There are millions of examples to give you an idea of what we are talking about, even Spanish textbooks that draw the grammar but from Costa de Valencia, we encourage you to create your own illustrations.
Here are two examples from our teachers
